Cons: Ridiculous exams. Yes-he tries to train you to think quickly, but all the exams are too much. All the questions he asks really need time to come up with the answers, but no... he wants you to just write all your first thoughts, which sucks. Honestly, we really need more than 15 mins to write two pages of the 2008 crisis AND our own view on Fed.
For your GPA's sake, I would recommend you to take other profs.
Cons: Focuses on irrelevant details
Nitpicks exam answers
You might go in knowing everything but you'll never get a 100%. This is the nature of the type of exams he gives: they are always too long and the long answer questions are impossible to answer fully in the time given. (eg. describe the reasons behind the financial crisis). His grading reflects his subjectivity- he'll easily take off 20% for not writing "what he wants". The problem is that he is not specific when asking the question and they are inevitably too broad- there is nothing you can do.
He is likable, but overrated. Take someone else, learn the same stuff (it's honestly not hard) and get a better grade.
Work load is absolutely heavy. If you are prepared to do the work required, you will really benefit from this class.
I wish he taught more classes!
The tests are impossible, I consider myself a fast test taker and I struggled to finish his tests in 2 hours. Everything is graded on a curve, averge grade is an 85 so study and go to every lecture and try to beat averge to do well in his course.
highly recommended
Came off as a snob at first (won't accept HW if it's not written a certain way, etc). However it took a week to get past that and realize this class was worth sticking with. I've used a lot of his stuff on my co-op ever since.
