He also asks questions and makes the lecture much more thought provoking than usual.
He is very helpful. He uses analogies and mnemonic devices that are extremely useful.
He is very approachable.
Cons: There aren't any that I can think of.
The first week he went on a rant about why he uses the clickers, saying that the amount of time that students can pay attention for decreases as the class period goes on and that he builds his presentations around this idea, yet in his presentations the questions are normally front-loaded.
Cons: None
Dan King is THE BEST teacher at Drexel. Had him for 101 and 102 freshmen year and again my 4th year and it confirms that is probably the best thing that happened to Drexel. I wish he taught my other classes considering the professors in my department are horrible. He kept me focused all three hours of the night class which is half a miracle. He genuinely cares if you know the material and is ALWAYS willing to help you outside of class. It is still doable for someone with a light chemistry background since he is so good at putting things in Layman's terms. The university probably doesn't pay him enough.
Seems genuinely interested in making sure everyone understands the material
Always nice and helpful, willing to help everyone at all times
Radical ties
Cons: Nothing
Best chemistry professor. If you weren't assigned Dr. King, go to his lectures anyways. He's the King, man.
Cons: NOTHING..DUHH
Just hard exams.....
There is a lot of interaction during lecture....them clickers ;)
Great and clear teaching methods!
He also does mini experiments in class too!
Take him if you can!!!!
Knows the material
Engaging and motivated
Helpful
Cons: Can move fast sometimes
Dr. King is probably my favorite professor at Drexel. He reinforces the material you learn in the course so well, and his clicker strategy is amazing. I'll be taking as many classes as possible with this man.
Interactive lectures
Many tools to help you succeed
The class structure is very organized and reasonable
Cons: I bought a book and study guide, but never used either (lab book is used)
Course material was easy to learn if it wasn't already known.
Exams were very straightforward and easy to study for.
OWLs get annoying, but they aren't difficult.
My recitation TA, Noah, was excellent! He does the homework questions in the form of a lesson.
Lab TA's can be a little picky, but everything you need for the labs is given to you.
clickers used in class
awesome powerpoints
Cons: none
After realizing the professor I was assigned to for Chem 101 sucked ass, I immediately learned from upperclassman to skip any other professors lecture and go to Dr. Kings. And I am SO glad I made that decision. I started doing better on exams and for Chem 102, I made sure I got Dr. King as my professor. The exams are pretty straightforward and most of the problems are calculations. His notes are really clear and hes the only lecture worth going to for Chem 101/102. He holds review sessions/posts them online if you miss them and he has clickers. Also he has pretty cool ties. It's a shame he doesn't teach 103 but thats okay. I highly recommend him and I'll miss his long locks.
Cons: Nothing really.
Study and you will do well. Ask questions and even go to office hours. He is always willing to help. Chill professor. Best Chemistry professor I've ever had.
clickers are used in class
Cons: nothing really
Chem 101 is pretty simple. It's basically all math and all the problems are the same. Go to Dr. King's lectures, do your owls and you will be fine. Also use your resources. Dr. King posts previous/past exams so use them to your advantage. Questions are sometimes repeated on exams. Owls REALLY help alot so do them. I ended with a B+ in the class after not taking chem since 10th grade (I'm currently a freshman).
Cons: Sometimes a lot of the material on the review session/practice exam isn't on the exam. He has this one test that averages a 60 percent every year in chem 102, but seems to not care.
Cons: none
great guy, great teacher, amazing notes, provides everything on powerpoints. people who weren't even registered for his lecture would go just to learn from him (literally people sitting on the stairwells and people standing around watching his lectures). if you need ANY chem course, take dr. king.
Cons: Not everybody gets him, so some people are screwed with mediocre profs. If you can, go to King's lectures anyway
Best general chemistry teacher. Possibly best in the department.
Makes sure that he clears up anyone's questions
Cons: Sometimes moves a little fast, but not often
Great Professor, would definitely recommend getting into his lecture.
