Pros: You have the choice not to take him
Cons: Horrible english (written) making the assignments hard to understand.
Assigns homework during finals week.
Boring lectures with non-informing slides.
3 hour class: break after 2 1/2 hours (maybe).
Not much time to do the labs in class.
He is nice but does not do a good job relating and presenting the information for the course. I would suggest NOT taking him. He is very heavy on the theoretical aspect of concurrency; meaning he loves proofs.

Lectures were dull. Way too much work given for such a simple topic.

The class is centered around a single project and while Professor Char does pose some useful questions, he also poses some of the dumbest questions ever. I understand why he poses them but they are absolutely dumb. "What if there's a tsunami?" Just grin and bear it. Luckily, we didn't have him as a technical advisor so he didn't really have much to do with us.

He taught concurrent programming and concepts, I studied and learned it. Not much else. Not too exciting, but it worked.

Knows his stuff, but can't relate it to students. Assignments are more busy work than actually learning much. Does not give enough time for labs. Penalizes you when your lab partners don't show up. Has a nagging habit of assigning projects during finals week (in addition to the final).

A very nice professor who knows his stuff. The labs, though sometimes annoying, were very helpful and never a waste of time. There is almost always something to learn, and Dr. Char will work with you until you understand the concepts at hand.

he's a likable character. Easy A if you are able to keep up with the reading, which is not difficult b/c concurrency pretty much comes down to the same fundamental again and again no matter what new concepts there might be.
his class is half lecture (he explains things very well) and half of group excersices. well, the group excersices are supposely be enjoyable, but if you end up in a bad group then every class is miserable. he will do a complete re-assign students to different groups after the mid-term, so every member of your original group will be placed in to a seperate group. my 1st group was cool and then the 2nd group was terrible....
exams were closed books, which i dont like, so memorization will be part of the game.

Dr. Char is a pretty good teacher. I thought most of his assignments were pretty fun. He may give a lot of work, but at least his classes are not as dry as when some others teach them. And he definately cares about the students, unlike a lot of professors.

He is an intelligent person, but has ZERO teaching skills. As much as you pay to attend Drexel you deserve a teacher that actually teaches. He has favorites, his grading is inconsistent, and there is only one right answer, HIS!

Best prof that I've had at Drexel! Sure he gives a lot of work, but if you apply yourself you'll learn more from his classes than any others Drexel offeres.
He's a friendly guy. Willing to help students with class work and to discuss pretty much anything. Explains complicated ideas in plain language and will explain again a little differently if you ask him to.
Char loves what he does both in and out of the classroom and it shows.
If you're a slacker don't take him, but if you actually want to get value from your education find a way to take both classes that he teaches, they'll help you in the long run.

Char is a good professor. I wish they had more professors like Char. The workload is heavy but just take your time and do them.
