Cons: He doesn't explain concepts at all. His lectures are all over the place and the material doesn't make sense together (meaning the course was just a conglomeration of concepts that didn't flow well into each other.) He also expects you to memorize things like specific ions and ALL formulas that shouldn't require memorization especially for a business major.
He's a really nice guy, and I feel bad for giving a bad review, but I'm not good at BSing classes so it hurt me.
DO THE OWLS, the tests are based off those problems
He truly cares about his students
Cons: You will not learn chemistry at all
His lectures are VERY boring
Overall, Wammy is a very nice guy but horrible teacher. His lectures are awful to sit through and no one pays attention. The class however is a joke. The tests are made directly matching the OWL simulations so do those AND the optional problems and you will get an A. If you need help or miss a test, talk to him and he will easily make adjustments for you!
Emails note packets
Cons: Terrible teacher
need to learn in recitation
need to teach yourself
Cons: Terrible Teacher. Awful at helping others understand. Boring, and confusing lectures
Book is your best friend
Cons: He doesn't really do much teaching. In lecture you just have to print out these packets and fill them in during class. If you want to hear what he's saying though you need to sit close to the front as he's missing teeth and doesn't speak very clearly.
Make sure you do the labs and do them well. They help your grade a lot. Don't forget to do the owls, but also don't use them as a study tool. Not everything in the owls will be tested, so make sure you know the recitation problems for the test as well as concepts presented in the lecture notes. The exams are easy but they are short so if you don't know what you're doing in one aspect, the rest of the test might only get you a C. I got mostly Cs on my exams, aced the labs and did most of the owls. I didn't go to lecture often and still made a B+ so still study, but if you have a harder class, put that one first.
Cons: Can't hear him. Sucks if you want to have a good understanding of CHEM101 because it is pertinent to your major. He's ancient, and he sends out really poorly written emails. He's messed up on writing exam questions. He sends out emails at 2 in the morning. The most people in his lecture hall are only when he's proctoring an exam. He uses transparencies instead of a powerpoint.
If you end up taking him, don't go to class and just take notes based on the online homework. You can not go to lecture and still get a high 80 or 100 on his test if you put in the time to learning through the online homework. I hate his teaching though and think he's just leeching from the university for his own personal research.
Cons: Great knowledge, but he is outdated and old school in his approach, hard to understand and hear, horrible handwriting on notes, and cannot use technology at all
He uses overhead projectors, and his handwriting is sometimes impossible to decode because he writes is cursive and crowds the pages.
His tests are very hard. I went to class, studied, the whole nine yards, and still only managed a B.
Labs are cake. Just go and you get an A for 3 minutes of filling out a lab sheet.
He makes up for hard tests by an intense curve (a 72 is a B)
Do your work, pay attention in class, don't be lazy when it comes to lab reports and you'll get an A.
He truly cares about his students.
Teaches well. And even sends out numerous reminders on when homework is due online.
He even makes a joke here and there.
He gives out practice exams and if you do the chpater problems and his practice exams you'll get an A. A lot of the exam questions are from the practice exams.
PS: If you wind up in his lab section, prepare to be there the full 3 hours PLUS some makeup days for the entire 10 weeks. He LOVES to explain a lot of things to the entire group, and there's no way out of this, as frustrating as it can be.
Words of advice: There will be no curve, you will stay the ENTIRE time even on the first day and he gives lectures before his exams in an effort to keep the numbers from dwindling after the first day (classroom will be empty after that time).
To sum things up: DON'T RUIN YOUR LIFE!! and 9 times out of 10 don't register for "Staff" at Drexel. That's their way of giving you horrible profs because if they put the profs name on the roster no one will register for the course! Literally every time I've registered with "Staff" they've given me a prof with horrible students reviews and it turned out to be true!
Every single class in engineering is open book because it is impossible to remember all the information, just as long as you know methods. This man isnt an engineer, so he sholdnt teach engineers. He's also no longer living, so he shouldnt teach the living. I heard the Wambsgans holds the patent for water (#00000000000000000000001)
