Pros: The 3 exams were actually 3 papers. He was fair and he is very engaging as a professor and is very adamant about taking time to think about the topics being discussed.
Cons: He tends to go off tangent about his life which you will come to learn is pretty interesting. Somehow, some of the tangents were he discusses his research is relevant to the topic at hand. The other tangents are more or less interesting anecdotes about life.
Though his papers are challenging, if you turn them in on time and actually spend time analyzing you should be fine.

Pros: no tests or quizes just three papers
Unfortunately this is the only tacher of this required course, thus, drexel should no longer require it. He taught about a third ofthe class time the first few weeks, but by the end there was nothing note worthy. For 400 level class I would actually expect a teacher to teach. But this class is just a waste of time and money that drexel forces you to do.

Pros: Makes class go by fast and fun by telling hilarious life stories; highly engaging professor when he does lecture on the topic.
Cons: His required readings are sometimes a bore, especially the two anthropology novels that you get "quizzed" on.
Tony is an amazing professor that I would most definitely take again. Since his exams and quiz are all essay based, you should definitely read the assigned readings if you wish to not fail. If you are a fairly good writer, his exams will be no problem (think SAT writing portion, but with an anthropological topic). Sometimes the readings are interesting, but at other times, they can be a real bore. However, I got an A in the class without reading everything (read about 70% of the textbook readings, and 50% of the novel readings).

His stories are awesome! Incredibly interesting, I actually look forward to going to this class! He will spend 2/3's of the class telling random stories and a 1/3 of actual material so at times its kind of hard to sift through all that and take good notes. His tests are essay style, 3 questions, and you get to pick two of them. To prepare for them, just read the book. You can pretty much guess what the questions are going to be on before hand based on the readings. They are boring, but if you read them, and remember the examples they discuss on issues, your set. Also try and remember a few of the statistics he gives out/ are found in the book, to include in the tests, he really likes that.

prof glascock was really cool, but i could argue if he could really teach. he has really funny stories, but half the time it was hard to understand whether or not it was important or not. i did enjoy his class, i suggest you buy the the novels and text for his class since he uses all of them, i would also suggest to make friends in his class so you can study together over all great guy, kind of hard tests

This guy is hilarious but he grades really hard. Wastes a lot of class time by talking about his crazy life adventures, but once he starts actually lecturing it can be a bit boring.

Pros: Spends a lot of time telling hilarious stories, which eats up a lot of class time. He is so funny and the workload isn't that bad.
Cons: His exams and quizzes are all essay. He's looking for very specific answers which makes it hard to get higher than a B on anything.

One of the few classes I've actually enjoyed going to. True, he does go on tangents. Most of his stories are hilarious. But sometimes he goes on tangents that I think are necessary. One I can think of off the top of my head is his explanation of the only thing that the SAT is a good indicator of. That and cultural capital. Neither had anything to do with the subject at hand but it was very valuable information. The workload is not hard but he will ask that you think. That should not be seen as negative... we are in college after all.

Glascock actually makes you think which is brilliant because there are few other professors who challenge you to do the same at Drexel. Take his class if you want to get out of your bubble of simply memorizing the material, regurgitating it on tests, and then forgetting it once the class is over.

Anyone who needs to take ANTH 101 should definitely take Prof. Glascock. He makes class very interesting, with his funny stories. He sometimes goes off in tangents, but he is very knowledgeable about the subject with tons of experience.
Work load is pretty light, just keep reading

Interesting teacher, boring topic. Exams were hard to prepare for only because you don't really know what to expect. He covers alot of ground and the text material is so hard to read. The grade you get depends on how fast you can write!

One of the best/most amusing teachers I had at Drexel. Tells hiliarious stories. Tests are so bad as long as you do the reading and study. Great teacher, take the class, the material is actually interesting.

I really enjoyed Tony's class but dont expect him to learn your name. In fact, he'll probably make one up and call you that for the rest of the term. Do the reading from Day 1 and take notes on the articles. Read every other chapter of those books, they're way boring. Learn his grading system as early as possible because even if you understand the info, an undetailed answer will get u an F. His stories are out of this world. I would hate to see anyone fail for this reason, glad to help.

Wow, Glascock is crazy. Tells numerous stories about "back when i was in high school..." Likes to tell stories about getting high/into fights. Digresses A LOT...however, the material regarding Anthropology was very interesting!

Really nice guy, has tons of weird/interesting stories to tell, someone who's life isn't all about books, no homeworks, just some required reading. He suggests you start reading up ahead, and I agree. The longer you wait the harder it is to catch up. Some reading is fun, interesting, some is dreadfully boring. Also, the more you read, the more prepared you are for the test. unless you have a great buddy I sttrongly reccomend attendance since a lot of the test is based on his deatailed lectures. tests are pretty hard, since he expects to get back the same details he gives out. If it weren't for that class would be perfect. Would I take him again? Maybe, if anything he's entertaining, and I now know his grading style :-)
