Cons: He tends to go off tangent about his life which you will come to learn is pretty interesting. Somehow, some of the tangents were he discusses his research is relevant to the topic at hand. The other tangents are more or less interesting anecdotes about life.
Though his papers are challenging, if you turn them in on time and actually spend time analyzing you should be fine.
Unfortunately this is the only tacher of this required course, thus, drexel should no longer require it. He taught about a third ofthe class time the first few weeks, but by the end there was nothing note worthy. For 400 level class I would actually expect a teacher to teach. But this class is just a waste of time and money that drexel forces you to do.
Cons: His required readings are sometimes a bore, especially the two anthropology novels that you get "quizzed" on.
Tony is an amazing professor that I would most definitely take again. Since his exams and quiz are all essay based, you should definitely read the assigned readings if you wish to not fail. If you are a fairly good writer, his exams will be no problem (think SAT writing portion, but with an anthropological topic). Sometimes the readings are interesting, but at other times, they can be a real bore. However, I got an A in the class without reading everything (read about 70% of the textbook readings, and 50% of the novel readings).
Cons: His exams and quizzes are all essay. He's looking for very specific answers which makes it hard to get higher than a B on anything.
Work load is pretty light, just keep reading
