lots of office hours
Cons: class is a little boring
book is not clear
Dr Bush really loves her students, she is willing to help you to understand the lecture by setting up 3~6 hours as office hours per week. It is a pretty hard class because there are lots of readings for this class, and the book does not explain the materials clearly sometimes. It is not easy to get an A but it is not impossible. It is important to make sure you understand each concept and attend all classes.
2 exams in the form of papers.
Cons: 3 hour class
2 hours she talks, 1 hour discussion
I havent taken the other professors obviously, but Dr. Bush is pretty straightforward. Seems to pick favorites and is a difficult grader whom nitpicks.
Like english classes, attend and get the way how the work should be done and do it.
Cons: a ton of work
grades papers hard
disorganized
This class could have been a lot more interesting if more student sin the class got to speak, but most of the time it was her discussing her opinion and once in a while she would call on her favorites, let them talk for a minute, and then cut in. Papers weren't graded very well, and are confusing. Everyday in class the blackboard is filled with discussion classes that she jumps around between, sometimes going over them, sometimes not so it is hard to follow and take organized notes. I would not take this class again.
Cons: classes can get boring or one-sided
Go to office hours to go over your papers before you turn them in! Buy the book and do the readings before you write your papers!
attendance is necc.
her voice
Nice woman, hard to understand sometimes but you can tell shes intelligent. her class was interesting and she provided a great environment for debates. her work load was crazy and that's the only reason why i wouldn't want her again...maybe it was just the class?
About 4-5 papers based on daily readings plus must complete short answer essays on weekly forum postings online related to weekly readings. Would not take again.
She lets you have 4 skips, so use them all. The movies she shows are easy to understand and actually does illustrate the points of the lecture way better then her notes ever do. Make sure you do the readings before class, or she will threaten you with a quiz.
Overall, do not take her, im sure the english and philosophy department have better choices out there
Her lectures, or should I say rambles, make absolutely no sense. You can infer the readings just fine on your own or by using Goggle. Trust me.
You can not have your own opinion. You must agree with her point of view or the point of view of the author whose article is being covered. If you don't, she will criticize you for it. Even when you get your assignments back from her, it will be filled with nothing buy negative feedback, criticizing you for what you wrote. Even though her grading is pretty reasonable, the feedback she gives you will make you wonder why you actually got the grade you got.
Overall, I would not recommend taking this woman for any class she teaches. Avoid her at all costs. If you can't, then good luck dealing with her. If you don't want to rip your hair out by Week 5, then I salute you!
The grading is okay, just write a lot on her assignments.
Not an easy A, but it is attainable if you put you're 100%
workload is light, don't sit in the front row..you'll get spit on.
nice person, ok teacher, seemed like she had favorites, i didn't even find out my grade until the 9th week.
Grading doesn't seem too bad, but haven't gotten any major grades back. Going to class, writing down some notes, paying attention from time to time, speaking up, and writing good papers equals an A grade.
