I thought this class would be awful, but Professor D made ENGL101 one of my favorite classes. He assigns readings almost every night, but they're easy and interesting. His class discussions provide good insight and ideas about the pieces, and there's only 4 papers for the term. He doesn't make you do dumb BS that most other english professors do. Definitely recommend Professor D!

Pros: Chill class will very little tests on the readings.
Cons: He makes you read almost everyday for homework.
He was nice at first but he grades papers really harshly. He makes you feel really bad about yourself by writing offensive comments that make you feel stupid and that you are really bad at writing. He almost expects you to be a published author just like himself other wise you get torn apart.
I was going to take him again for ENGL 102 but he really offended multiple students on a paper so I switched to someone else.

Pros: He is a fair grader. Just show up to class, sit down and somewhat listen to what he has to say and you will get a good grade. He is a really nice teacher too. Somedays when he feels class isn't necessary, he just cancels class.
Cons: There are three large writing assignments over the course of the term, but thats the departments fault.
Literally, one of the best english teachers I have ever had.

Pros: Class is relatively easy, no tests
Cons: plays favorites a little bit, in class is boring
He is a very good teacher, although a bit monotone and boring in class. If you want good grades on essays, make sure you put in a lot of details. He takes off points for not giving enough details or information. Overall, good teacher, easy to talk to, and is understanding about dates.

Pros: He's a very nice guy and really open to talking really about anything. always ask lots of questions and he will general tell you what he wants you to write the essay about. he keeps it fun and interesting and will always provide multiple topics for a essay that you can pick fro.
Cons: he knows the material really well so he's hard to challenge, but if you prove him wrong on something or being something up he did not see before he will become really excited and interested.
Not an easy A but hes a fun guy and i actually enjoyed English 102 and 103, fight to be in his class!

Pros: a) Very straightforward/clear instructions for homework and projects.
b) Reasonable when it comes to people's ideas during discussions.
c) Never have to write for homework unless it's a project - you have homework for (almost) every class but it's usually just a reading that will be for the next class's discussion.
Cons: a) Not a very exciting professor but then again, it might be because of the class.
If you can't take sarcasm, don't take him - he's a nice guy but he'll be sarcastic with some of your ideas during discussion if he thinks they're wrong. I don't mind it personally but a lot of people end up being afraid to speak and the discussions are very quiet if you don't have people who don't care about that.

He was a great teacher, I will give him that; however he was so hard. We got more work than any other English classes. If you want to get an A do not take him, he will not give it to you--the whole entire class struggled. If you want to work your ass off and get a B or C then this is the class for you

DiBart is in his 50s or so and he's a lot cooler than a lot of the people that go to Drexel. cracks jokes, isn't tough on deadlines, extremely easy to talk to, and just an all around nice guy. if you don't believe me, take his class for a week and see for yourself.

DiBartolomeo is an ok teacher. He gives good feedback on papers, but is not that easy of a grader. He liked to flaunt that he is a published author. Also, his assignments are not clear and if you ask about it he will only make you more confused.

The workload in his class is do-able, he's just a VERY tough grader. He can help if you talk to him because he's pretty laid back in his office. But I hope to get a better teacher the next quarter

Awesome teacher, I never liked english too much but I really enjoyed his class. He makes class fun and interesting.
This is probably the only englsh class I've ever taken where the majority of the class willingly participated in discussions. Great class.

Cannot reccomend Mr.D enough. His classes are really chill, he respects your oppinions and encourages class disscussion. He doesn't just grade your papers, he provides valuable feedback and if you put forth the effort your writing will improve. To those people who say he is a hard grader...welcome to college, his workload is average at it's worst, and I had him for 2 terms.
Go to class(he takes attendance but class is fun anyway), do your work and you'll learn alot. This is what college is about.

Professor DiBartolomeo is the man. Excellent teacher and really makes the pieces interesting, although he is a relatively tough grader (which can be a good thing, and in this case, it is-- he really makes you think about what you're writing). Really changes both the way you look at writing and the significance of the most minimal parts of it. Excellent overall and a nice guy. Laid back, but not too laid back. The only thing holding him back from getting a 10, in my opinion, is that it seems as though he wants certain answers when writing essays sometimes. He's not ridiculous about it though. I highly recommend him.

Awesome professor. We mostly had discussions in class that would pertain to the topic at hand and while doing so Prof. DiBart would always make it enjoyable with his jokes and random comments.
His workload was manageable as well.
Pick him.

I loved his class. It was one of my memorable classes of freshman year. 101 was a lot better than 103, but because I liked the material we covered more. If you like english and writing, then you'll enjoy his class.

was a great teacher. All of the readings that had to be done for class were interesting and different than your typical english class. If you do take him make sure you participate in class. would retake anytime

I had Al for English 103, He is such a great teacher. He made class fun and pretty much always let you out early. He likes when you get involved with discussion. Never gave alot of work, and always was understanding. Tests and quizzes were easy as well which was great for those with heavier loads of work in other classes. Would recomend him to anyone!
