Personal Statement

I have been a tutor throughout high school, working across a host of subjects. The majority of my English/Literature tutoring experience comes from peer tutoring as an AP Lit and Comp and AP Lang and Comp student. Throughout high school, I have developed a love for Literature, especially postmodern writers such as Faulkner, Morrison, and Calvino. Reading the works of these writers, I discovered a passion for rhetorical precision and creativity. As a tutor, I hope to share this enthusiasm with my students, and inspire them to take rhetorical and analytical risks that will ultimately strengthen their writing. I will review their writing with them as well as discuss readings to help them see tricks and features that they should look out for to become stronger readers and writers.
