IMMEDIATE OPENING FOR OUR AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM!

ORGANIZATION SUMMARY:
Guided by the Hwa Rang Do martial art tradition, Tomorrow's Leading Knights are here to provide an after-school & camp program to educate, train, and inspire; in an effort to empower our world, one child at a time. Our mission is to provide care and programming to maximize the potential in every child. We provide a safe environment for children to learn and grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially in order to become leaders in our community and our world.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Afterschool Staff will supervise the children and coordinate staff to maintain a safe and stimulating environment for children in an afterschool and summer camp format. Very unique youth program emphasizing leadership and empowerment, and also includes time for games, crafts, projects, and clubs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification: Minimum: 2 years of related experience

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to pass a background check
CPR/First Aid Trained or the ability to become trained
Experience working in a childhood setting
Experience planning and implementing curriculum
Must be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the children and program
Experience supervising staff/volunteers
Competency with Microsoft Office Suite

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the physical, social, and emotional development of students with an emphasis on the principles of the martial art Hwa Rang Do (no martial art experience required for this position)
Perform duties as planned under the leadership of the Executive Director
Create and implement programming and curriculum based on Leadership, Virtues, Arts & Humanities, Science & Technology and Service Learning
Interact with the children in a way which conveys respect and nurturing
Support the social and emotional development of children
It will be the Program Coordinator's responsibility to play and interact with children; this will often mean getting down on the floor to interact with them or running during physical activity
Provide activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem-solving appropriate to the development levels of the children
Selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials appropriate for the TLK program
Be able to supervise personal hygiene of children as needed
Maintain a safe environment based on safety standards set by the program
Assist in the cleaning and straightening of the facility at the end of the day, as well as putting away any outside equipment
Work cooperatively and effectively as a team member by communicating and contributing information on a continuous basis
Maintain open, friendly, and cooperative relationships with each child's family.
Continue professional development through attending workshops, conferences and other staff development as directed
Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible
Supervise and train the general Program Staff.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental Demands:
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); ability to maintain emotional control under stress;

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Ability to routinely play with children, clean the facility, and sustain energetic leadership throughout the duration of active program sessions.

COMPENSATION:
Compensation ranges from $16-$22 per hour based on experience and performance. During the school year the main the focus is on the afterschool program (1:30-6:30pm) and during the summer the focus is on full day summer camps (usually 6 weekly sessions per summer). Additional hours for planning available, plus more hours for someone with video editing skills. There is some flexibility on schedule and opportunity to find the right fit for the right person.
