This time, we focus on Jessica Lahey and Julie Lythcott-Haims who have each written two books that are essential reading for parents. Whether your child is younger, or you have someone heading to college, you’ll find information, inspiration and support. We love to talk about all of the books that we’re reading and make recommendations for parents to read and share with their students. Some books are best read cover to cover, and others are great references to have on hand to return to when you need them most.
Last spring, in our podcast episode #020 – Our Favorite Summer Reads for College Parents, we shared twelve books that we think are great for parents to read to learn more about the college years – and college parenting. Go back to that episode (and check out the show notes) for a selections for your beach bag this summer.
This year, we’ve chosen to narrow down the number of books we’re discussing. We wanted very much to talk about two books that were just released in April, The Addiction Inoculation by Jessica Lahey and Your Turn: How to Be an Adult by Julie Lythcott-Haims. These are both must-read for parents – whether your student is going to college or not – or even if they’re still young. And it just so happens that both of these authors have earlier books on the list we discussed last year.
So this year, we’ve chosen to narrow our discussion to four books, two by each of these authors. We’re taking a deeper dive into these authors and the themes of their books. If you haven’t read these four books, you should. It’s that simple. Be sure to listen to this episode to find out why.
Here are the books to add to your “must read” list.
